07/03/2010 - MJSL 7-a-side
The Group stage saw 3 teams drop out who finished bottom of their groups. Mcr Maccabi, Oakhill and Republic of Mancunia won all their group games and consequently topped their respective divisions. In the Quarter Finals, Westdene A lost out on a sudden death shoot out to Mcr Maccabi after a 2-2 draw. Oakhill edged out South Manchester Maccabi 2-1 and Sporting beat Leeds 3-2. Republic beat Haroldeans 1-0 but had to withdraw due to prior engagements with the merseysiders progressing.
In the semis Haroldeans who had lost 4-0 in an earlier group game to Mcr Maccabi, this time won 3-1, whilst Oakhill continued their 100% record with a 5-3 win over Sporting. The Final brought together Oakhill and Haroldeans and probably the best and fittest team overall triumphed 3-0 to win the trophy for the first time in their history. Jake Gilbert was presented the Shield by MJSL Chairman Brian Myer as Gary Louis thanked the Samberg family for their continued support.
07/03/2010 - New fixtures scheduled and distributed
The website has been updated with all games up to and inc Apr 25 and document TEAMS12 was issued to all club secretaries this evening. All games in midweek should kick off as close to 6pm as possible BUT no later than 6.30pm under any circumstances due to failing light and all refs have been advised to note any late kick offs.
Any cancelled games will result in immediate £20 fines being issued to the offending team and this will double on any subsequent cancellations, so remember you are letting down not just the MJSL but a fellow team. April is the busiest month that we have ever seen due to the many weekends of games postponed on block. Please DO NOT ASK for any leniency, exceptional circumstances as will be refused by return.
03/03/2010 - 7 a side notes
An email has been sent to all club secretaries regarding the tournament on Sunday. Broughton, Rep of Manc and Oakhill need to bring nets and corner flags and have them set up for 9.45am, all teams must bring their own footballs and first aid kits as normal. Each team should bring their own refreshments and ideally a 2nd set of shirts to avoid potential colour clashes. A maximum of 10 players can be in any squad with 7 players on the pitch at any time and there are no offsides. The handicap system will be in operation as normal with teams at the bottom of the league gaining 2 goals before each game, others mid table will get 1 goal with those towards the top having zero advantage.
Security will be provided on the car park alone so all car owners should be vigilant as to where they choose to park and what belongings they leave on show. Haroldeans, Leeds, Westdene A, Crumpsall and Sporting can arrive at 10am with all others strictly 9.30am. There will be 2 groups of 4 and 1 group of 3 with all last placed teams dropping out for the Quarter Finals. Final is planned to be no later than 2.30pm with semis hopefully at 2pm.
01/03/2010 - Headlines for Feb 28
3 games survived the weekend weather and each of them provided an exciting encounter with a total of 23 goals being scored on the day. Pride of place must go to Oakhill who found themselves 3 down after 15 minutes but a great fightback meant that they ended up winning by the odd goal in 11 with the winner in the final minute much to the South Manchester dismay, Sam bentwood scored a couple.
The other 2 games both finished 4-2, firstly in the clash of the titans, title favourites Haroldeans beat reigning holders Westdene 1st with Bobby Abrams and Adam Cross sharing the goals equally. Rep of Mancunia went down to Mcr Maccabi 3rd with Greg Louca getting a couple in the victory. See Semi Final draw as news item tomorrow. In the Tony Cohen Cup 1st round, the game between Westdene 2nd and Sporting was postponed.
01/03/2010 - Semi Final Cup Draws
Feldman Semis are provisionally planned for Apr 18 and sees Mcr Maccabi 3rd host Haroldeans and Oakhill will play Leeds J-Uni or Broughton Park. In the Shonn Trohy its Haroldeans against Oakhill and Mcr Maccabi 3rd against Westdene 1st on Apr 11 with date to be confirmed.
21/02/2010 - Headlines for Feb 21

The other match involving Leeds and Broughton is delayed till March 21 due to Purim next weekend when Crumpsall and Broughton are not available.
New fixtures have been re-issued this afternoon with teams11 being the correct document to work from with immediate effect.
21/02/2010 - MJSL Council and Exec Meetings - 25 Feb 2010
All clubs and Exec members are reminded that the next meeting is scheduled for this Thursday evening at 7.30pm. Clubs must be represented without exception and Refs are invited to attend.
15/02/2010 - Headlines for Feb 14
Not much love was shown by Oakhill as they slammed 10 past Westdene 2nd with Sam Bentwood the pick of their scorers with 4. Republic beat Sporting 6-2 with Olly Basger getting a couple, Leeds beat Crumpsall 3-0 and a close 2-2 draw occurred between Mcr Maccabi 3rd and Sth Mcr Maccabi 2nd.
Game of the day saw top of the table and title favourites Haroldeans draw their 2nd game of the season with Westdene 1st, previous dropped points was against last seasons champions Leeds. Amazingly this game ended goalless, remarkable for the MJSL, with the home team at Outwood missing a succession of chances, the Merseysiders then may have nicked the points with their minimal chances but Westdene will still feel hard done with a justified penalty appeal that went unpunished in the dying minutes. Both had to settle for a single point in the end.
15/02/2010 - Confirmation of NEXT Meeting Date
There have been several adjustments to the next MJSL Council and Exec Meeting for which I apologise. I can confirm that the date is DEFINITELY Thursday 25 February contrary to any previous emails or messages on the website. Start time is 7.30pm at usual venue.
07/02/2010 - Headlines for Feb 07
It was back to the league for 10 teams today and pride of place today goes to Oakhill who won by the odd goal in three against South 2nd who had been flying high so far. Westdene 1st got through an awkward game against Mcr Maccabi 3rd winning 4-2 with double strikes from both sides eing from Raffi Bloom and Marc Sheldon.
Rep of Mancunia hit the heights of second place with a 3-0 victory over Westdene 2nd albeit having played more games than any of their opponents. Leeds knocked in 4 against Crumpsall to keep up their challenge and moved into 3rd as Dan Pletan and Oli Grant each scored a brace. Sportng were beaten 2-0 by Broughton in the other match played.

24/01/2010 - Headlines for Jan 24
There were 4 Shonn Trophy Quarter Finals as the MJSL returned to football today. Holders Westdene 1st beat fellow finalists from last year Leeds J-Uni by a scoreline of 5-2 with Jonny Alexander grabbing a couple including a penalty although the students were handicapped having just 9 players. Oakhill fared better as they slammed 7 past Crumpsall with a Jonny Sacker hatrick helping them on their way to a 7-2 win.
The other 2 games were much closer with Mcr Maccabi 3rd edging out Sporting narrowly 2-1 and the teams sitting in the top two league positions met at Hough End as Sth Mcr Maccabi 2nd hosted Haroldeans and it was the vistors who won this 2-0.
In the league, Rep of Mancunia beat Westdene 2nd 5-0 with Anthony Bloch grabbing a brace which took his team to the lofty heights of third in the MJSL Premier Division.
14/01/2010 - Fixtures cancelled
All games this weekend have been cancelled (17 Jan). This includes MJSL and Morrison matches.
14/01/2010 - MJSL Council and Exec Meetings - Jan 2010
A reminder that there is a Council Meeting at 7.30pm at Bury Synagogue next Thursday (21 Jan). An Exec Meeting will follow. All clubs must be represented at the Council Meeting and all refs are invited.
21/12/2009 - Fixtures update
New fixtures have now been issued and Teams7 document should be used for Jan to Feb2010 games. NB.
ALL teams MUST be available for any game on any day from Jan 10 till May 9 with MJSL providing at least 6 days notice
Just because you are not scheduled a game DOES NOT mean a game will not be rearranged on that date
Non-fulfilment of games will result probably in the award of the game and a minimum £20 fine imposed
Teams CANNOT cancel on the day of a game due to poor weather/bad pitch without contacting in the first instance the MJSL Ref Secretary
Even if the Local Authority cancels your venue or you have the authority on your own pitch, we will be looking to move games where possible to avoid the cancellations
Your players MUST NOT be advised that any game is off until the MJSL officially advise you to go ahead and inform them
Some teams at Frederick Rd will need to move to another pitch at that venue should there be a clash of fixtures and these changes have been added to the schedule attached
ALL secretaries MUST check their emails frequently as any rearrangements will be relayed in this manner and no excuse will be accepted of non-receipt
I will be on holiday from Dec 31 to Jan 09 but available for contact on Sunday 10 January which is the date of the first set of games in 2010 and scores to be texted to me as normal.
19/12/2009 - Headlines for Dec 20
All games have been cancelled this weekend. As a result the Tony Cohen Trophy will be competed for as follows between the bottom 6 teams on an average pts per game basis from their league performances so far.
Republic of Mancunia will play the winners of Oakhill against Crumpsall whilst Sporting will pay Westdene 2nd with the winner playing Broughton Park. All games to be played in the new year with fixtures being released within the next week.
13/12/2009 - Headlines for Dec 13
Perhaps the biggest shock in the MJSL for years occurred as Westdene 2nd managed to beat their own 1st team 5-3, 2 goals each coming from Ryan Parker and Adam Berman with Adam Herman getting the other. Ben Rose scored a couple in reply plus one from Jonny Alexander. Title favourites beat bottom of the table Crumpsall 5-2 and there were 7 different scorers who hit the back of the net.
As the merseysiders stayed top, the closest resistance is coming from high flying South Manchester 2nds as they beat Broughton 2-0 and remain 7pts adrift with a game in hand, Ben Tyer and Marc Conway getting the goals. Leeds had a day off so the other league game saw a 6 goal thriller as Mcr Maccabi 3rd drew 3-3 with Rep of Mancunia, special mention to veteran Marc Sheldon who scored a memorable hatrick for Maccabi.
The outstanding Feldman match finally took place at the third time of asking between Oakhill and Sporting, which turned out to be a very exciting contest as Oakhill just ran out winners 4-3, Jake Gilbert grabbing a couple in teh process.
06/12/2009 - Headlines for Nov 6
In the MJSL, Mcr Maccabi 3rd slammed 10 past Westdene 2nd with Greg Louca getting 5 goals whilst Oakhill beat Crumpsall 7-1 to gain their second win of the campaign with Jon Sacker, Jake Gilbert and Ben Horn all scoring twice. South Manchester Maccabi 2nd against Leeds J-Uni was postponed.
The Morrison National Trophy saw Haroldeans beat Rep of Mancunia 7-1 with Josh Rubin and Simon Gould each getting a couple. Sth Mcr Maccabi 1st beat Mcr Maccabi 2nd 3-1 with Harvey Kaye, Tom Cantor and Mike Filson(pen) being the South scorers and the half time score was also 3-1. Sporting travelled to Glasgow Maccabi and lost 9-0 whilst Broughtons game against Leeds Maccabi was due to be played in Manchester but with the pitches unplayable and with prior arrangement and agreement, the game was reversed to Leeds but Broughton could not field a team so a decision will be made shortly whether the game is awarded.
29/11/2009 - Headlines for Nov 29
With all games cancelled except the league game in Liverpool, Haroldeans took the opportunity to go 6pts clear at the top of the league by beating Mcr Maccabi 3rd 3-0 with Josh Rubins, Antony Beilin and Sam Roberts the goalscorers.
The Morrison game between Broughton Park and Leeds Maccabi will be played next Sunday now with the winners facing Westdene 1st some time in January. Also the Feldman rearranged game between Sporting and Oakhill now gets played on Dec 13. All adjustments have been emailed to club secretaries today.
22/11/2009 - Headlines for Nov 22
In the Shonn Trophy, a solitary goal from Anton Radivan saw Sporting knock out Broughton 1-0 whilst Westdene 2nd were comprehensively beaten 7-2 by South Mcr 2nd with a couple of goals each from Ben Tyer and Gary Freeman. The Shonn Quarter Finals line up is now, Crumpsall v Oakhill, Sth Mcr 2nd v Haroldeans, Sporting v Mcr Maccabi 3rd, Westdene 1st v Leeds J-new Uni.
In the league, despite the recent rain, all 3 games survived and Haroldeans stayed on top keeping up their good run by beating Oakhill 3-1 with Paul Harris grabbing a brace. Elsewhere Leeds are clearly making a fight of it after an indifferent start and moved in to second position after a 3-1 win over Rep of Mancunia, whilst Mcr Maccabi 3rd managed to get the better of Crumpsall with a 2-0 victory.
Finally in the National Trophy, the biggest shock possible occurred as Mcr Maccabi 1st were humbled out of the competition at the first round as they were superbly beaten by South Mcr Maccabi 1st who now will face Mcr Maccabi 2nd in the next round.
15/11/2009 - Headlines for Nov 15
The big clash of the day saw Haroldeans travel to reigning champs Leeds J-new Uni to test their title credentials and at the end of the match it was honours even as they drew 1-1 and perhaps their other rivals all benefitted on this occasion with credit to Leeds who are the first team to take a point off the merseysiders.
Elsehere in the league, Mcr Maccabi edged out Broughton with a 2-1 win and Westdene 2nd beat Crumpsall 4-2 for their first victory of the season. Westdene 1st and Sporting saw their game postponed due to Outwood being unplayable.
In the Peter Morrison Trophy, Republic of Mancunia won by the odd goal in 3 over Oakhill at Frederick Rd, Adam Kaye and Stu Goldwater were the scorers whilst Dan Cohen got Oakhills. Rep of Manc progressed to the next round which will see them travel to Haroldeans on Dec 6th for a place in the National last 16.
15/11/2009 - Peter Morrison update
To clarify the state of play in the Northern Zone of the National Trophy, Sth Mcr Maccabi 1st host Mcr Maccabi 1st on Nov 22 and Broughton Park host Leeds Maccabi on Nov 29. The 2nd round sees 3 games on Dec 6th with Sporting having the toughest task of travelling to play away against Glasgow Maccabi. Westdene 1st will host either Broughton Park or Leeds J-new Uni whilst the only tie with both MJSL teams is Haroldeans against Republic of Mancunia.
On Dec 20, Mcr Maccabi 2nd await the winners of the Sth Mcr Maccabi 1st v Mcr Maccabi 1st game. This will produce 4 winners who will go forward to the National last 16 probably to be played in February and into the hat with 12 southern teams.
11/11/2009 - Midweek result
Leeds J-new Uni beat Oakhill for the second time in a fortnight although on this occasion both teams had a full compliment of players and there was just one goal difference, Oli Grant getting the only goal of the game played at Frederick Rd in a rare afternoon 2pm kick off.
08/11/2009 - Headlines for Nov 8
With 3 games called off due to the Councils, only one game survived in Manchester as Rep of Mancunia just missed out in a 3-2 defeat in the first round of the Shonn Trophy. In the league, Leeds J-new Juni also narrowly lost 3-2 albeit a fighting comenback ensued in the second half with the score at half time 0-3 to a very much under strength Westdene who now move to within 3pts of top spot held by Haroldeans. It was a tempestuous affair with many inappropriate comments made during and after the match which saw Leeds manager red carded after the final whistle.
01/11/2009 - Headlines for Nov 1
Leeds hit 13 against Westdene 2nd with Steve Garman, Oli Grant, Ben Solloshi and Dan Pletan all getting hatricks and that made it 25 in last 2 games after hitting 12 against a depleted Oakhill last Wednesday. Elsewhere Rep of Mancunia beat current league leaders South Manchester 2nd by 4-1 and Rob Jacobs grabbed a hatrick in that one.
Oakhill bounced back with their first league win of the season beating Crumpsall 6-2 at a windswept Frederick Rd as Jonny Sacker and Dan Cohen each scored a couple of goals, Manchester Maccabi 3rd missed the chance to take all the points against Broughton with a Simon Kaye last minute penalty being saved and a 2-2 draw being the final score. Sportings trip to Merseyside was called off due to the pitch and will be rescheduled at a later date but their opponents and intended hosts Haroldeans went top without playing due to the Sth Mcr defeat.
28/10/2009 - Midweek result
Oakhill started well and held reigning champs Leeds J-New Uni who had 10 men to a goalless first half - nearly. A last minute penalty in the first half gave the Yorkshire students the edge, however, the second half saw Oakhill end the game with just 8 players due to injuries and with a 2 man advantage, Uni won by a mammoth 12-0 with Oli Grant grabbing 5 and David Cohen bagging 4. The return game is in a fortnights time.
25/10/2009 - Headlines for Oct 25
In the Feldman Trophy, it was a repeat of last years final and the end result was similar with Westdene 1st beating Crumpsall 6-0 with Dan Zegze grabbing a couple of goals. Westdenes 2nd team went out to South Manchester 2nd with 1-5 scoreline, Si Mattison and Michael Basger both getting a brace.
In the league, Sporting drew 4-4 with Oakhill, Ross Smith smashed a hatrick for the home team whilst Oakhill drew their 3rd league game in a row. New boys Broughton Park won again with a 3-1 victory over Rep of Mancunia and Haroldeans made it 5 out of 5 wins as they beat reigning champs Leeds 3-0 with Josh Rubins hatrick the difference. South stay top having played 1 game more than the merseysiders. Leeds and Oakhill find themselves near the bottom but play each other in midweek and a chance to push up the table.
25/10/2009 - National Trophy - Cup draws
Round 1 sees South Mcr Maccabi 1st host Mcr Maccabi 1st in the pick of the matches with Broughton playing host to Leeds Maccabi and Oakhill taking on Rep of Mancunia. Round 2 sees the winner of the South Mcr v Mcr Maccabi 1st clash then play away to Mcr Maccabi 2nd. Glasgow Maccabi will entertain Sporting in Scotland, Oakhill or Rep of Manc will travel to Haroldeans and the winner of the Leeds v Broughton match will play Westdene 1st at Outwood. Provisional dates will be Nov 15 for the 1st round and Dec 6 for the 2nd round.
25/10/2009 - Game awarded
Westdene 2nd failed to fulfil their league game v Broughton Park in September and the game has been awarded to Broughton with 3pts and a goalless scoreline. Both teams have been notified and the table updated.
18/10/2009 - Headlines for Oct 18
Just like in the Premier League, it was a week of massive shocks in the MJSL as the reigning champions and last season's double cup winners both lost unexpectedly. Pride of place must go to new boys Broughton Park who went to Yorkshire and not only won but hammered an under-strength Leeds 5-1 with Mike Gatswirth grabbing a couple. Similarly a marvellous victory for Rep of Mancunia who recorded their best ever scalping by beating well fancied Westdene 1st by the odd goal in 5 with Jonny Jacobs scoring twice. Also Oakhill faultered and drew 2-2 with Mcr Maccabi 3rd who grabbed a last minute equaliser whilst Oakhills both strikes were own goals.
Haroldeans are beginning to look a good bet as they convincingly smashed 7 past Crumpsall with Eric Lewis getting 2 plus 5 others getting their name on the scoresheet. Finally South Manchester kept top spot as they beat Sporting 5-2 with Marc Conway getting a hatrick.
18/10/2009 - MJSL Council and Exec Meetings - Oct 08
All are reminded of Thursday 22 Oct as being the next Council and Exec Meetings with 8pm start at Bury Shul. First on the agenda will be National Cup Draws for both Junior and Senior sections. Once the draws have been made, we should be able to release all fixtures right through to the end of the year as the National matches will determine what league games can be played on the various dates. For the record the Northern Zone Morrison dates are confirmed as Nov 15 and Dec 6.
Other news sees Oakhill scheduled to play Leeds on Oct 28 with the return game a fortnight later, both games being played on Wednesday afternoons at Frederick Rd so the student teams catch up on games before it gets too dark to complete them in late Nov and Dec.
Frederick Rd on Sundays will in the future, possibly have a rugby game on pitch 4 on a Sunday morning with use of toilets being allowed of course for their participants although MJSL have full control of the dressing rooms in agreement with Salford Council.
Finally the correct name for Leeds is now Leeds J-New Uni as confirmed by West Riding FA.
27/09/2009 - Headlines for Sept 27
23 goals were scored in the MJSL Premier Division today. Both student teams started their campaigns with Oli Grant grabbing 5 as reigning champions Leeds J-Uni smashed 7 past Westdene 2nd. Oakhill could only take a point from a much improved Rep of Mancunia as they shared 6 goals at Frederick Rd. Current league leaders South Mcr 2nd lost for the first time by the odd goal in 3 to Haroldeans who made it 2 out of 2 victories. Manchester Maccabi 3rd convincingly beat Sporting by 5-1. Due to Holy days, there are no games on the next 2 weekends.
Salford Council apologise for the groundsman not surfacing today at Frederick Rd and a mix up in communication on scheduled games held there, meant that there was no security either - apologies from MJSL.
14/09/2009 - Referees - Club responsibilities
This is a reminder of our league guidelines regarding referees / match day procedure. We do not want to hand out any fines so this is the last warning for everybody. If you are a secretary then please advise your person in charge on a Sunday.
1. The HOME team must confirm a Sunday game with referee and opponents no later than Thursday evening before the weekend of the game, ideally you should confirm as early in the week as possible making sure there are no kit clashes / advise of pitch location.
2. The HOME team MUST give the £25 match fee to the referee PRIOR to the game in all instances without exception. The referee has the authority not to start the game till money is paid and can subsequently hold the home team responsible for a late kick off as well. The rules allow for fines accordingly.
3. The referee has a responsibility to report any kit discrepancies (regardless of how minor the detail) and a fine will be levied in due course, as well as a duty to advise of any late kick offs, again a fine can be imposed if one/both teams is/are to blame.
No further allowances will be given to any team including those not having played yet. Take this as the amnesty day and from now on you know what to expect.
13/09/2009 - Headlines for Sept 13
South Manchesre Maccabi 2nd just about made it 4 out of 4 wins as Michael Basger notched a winner in the last 5 mins against Rep of Mancunia who were unlucky not to come out with a point. In 2nd place but also with a 100% record is Westdene 1st who easily beat their 2nd team with Ben Rose and Dan Amran both grabbing hatricks. Another 1 goal victory saw Haroldeans take all the points away to Manchester Maccabi 3rd, Paul Harris scoring in added time but the merseysiders had 2 players sent off.
There are no games next weekend and the 2 student teams join up in the next set of scheduled games on Sept 27.
06/09/2009 - Headlines for Sept 6
South Manchester Maccabi 2nds made it 3 wins from 3 games in the opening week of the season as they beat new boys Broughton Park 5-1 at Frederick Rd and sit proudly at the top of the MJSl Premier Division, Ben Tyer top scored with a hatrick. Also winners on the day were Rep of Mancunia as they recorded a 2-0 win over Sporting JLGB, and Haroldeans who opened their campaign by beating Westdenes 2nd team 6-1 with Adam Herman as outstanding performer between the posts for the losers. Westdene 1st v Mcr Maccabi 3rd was postponed due to pitch conditions at Outwood.
Next week sees Haroldeans travel to Manchester again to play Mcr Maccabi 3rd, South host Rep of Mancunia. Then its Crumpsall and Broughton Park and the Westdene teams in what could be considered by some as 2 derbies.
03/09/2009 - Midweek games update
It rained goals this evening as Sporting took Crumpsall to the cleaners with a scoreline of 9-0, Adam Schwinger grabbed a hatrick, whilst South Manchester Maccabi 2nd put 7 past Manchester Maccabi 3rd without reply and Toby Levy notched 4 of them. Westdene 1st won by the odd goal in 5 against a rejuvenated Rep of Mancunia although it was a hatrick from Dan Amran that ultimately stole the show. ALL TEAMS should note that there is a distinct possibility that weekend games will be cancelled by Councils etc BUT please read the MJSL handbook for correct procedure to follow - DO NOT ADVISE YOUR PLAYERS THAT THE GAME IS OFF UNTIL AUTHORISED BY THE MJSL.
30/08/2009 - New season starts
Westdene 1st started where they left off last season as they convincingly beat Crumpsall 7-1 with a hatrick from Moishe Hasid. Ben Tyer grabbed a couple as South Manchester opened up well with a 5-1 win over Sporting. The most exciting game was at Frederick Rd as debutants Broughton Park lost by the odd goal in 9 with Zev Landsman notching a couple, Republic of Mancunia acquired the full 3 pts with the help of braces from Dave Eden and Jonny Lewis. There are 4 games on Thursday evening...
20/08/2009 - Cup Draws

Individual awards went to Ryan Sidle (Sporting JLGB) as Club Secretary of the Year, Eytan Halon as Ref of the Year, Josh Rubins as Top Golascorer. All pics are now available by accessing the "Photos" channel on the MJSL toolbar.
18/05/2009 - 7 a side results
Crumpsall again lifted the Mike Samberg Israel Trophy with a win over a gallant Haroldeans. Credit to Zevi Saunders as he rallied his team to retain their trophy with a near perfect record througout the competion. Crumpsall won 3 and drew 1 of their 4 Group 2 games finishing top on 10 pts. Haroldeans as it happens were the only team that never lost to Crumpsall, albeit at the Group stage. Haroldeans had won 2 and drawn 2 with Sporting being their other drawn game seeing them into runners up spot on 8pts. Sporting came close in 3rd followed by Roys Rovers in 4th on 2pts and Westdene A bringing up the rear on 1pt.
Group 1 saw a very exciting group as it was not settled till the last kick of the last game. Oakhill had raced away with 3 straight wins and were guaranteed a place in the semis with 9pts whilst Westdene C were sitting pretty having beaten their Westdene B colleagues in their last match giving them 7pts over the B teams 6. Leeds had drawn to Westdene C and lost to Westdene B needed to beat Oakhill by 3 clear goals to sneek into the Semi and thats just what they did with a 5-1 victory.
The Semis saw the Winners and Runner Up crossover from each group with Oakhill losing 4-1 to Haroldeans and yet again Crumpsall causing a suprise as they swept past Leeds J-Uni 3-1. the handicap system had been used as in precious years and Crumpsall just had a single goal advantage over their rivals who had finished higher in the actual 11 a-side league.
The Final officiated by Larry Troot ended with Crumpsall beating Haroldeans 3-2 in the game plus their extra goal so a final score of 4-2 and players and officials received their medals with photos available through "Photos" channel on the MJSL toolbar.
18/05/2009 - Photos problem
There is a website problem currently which is being looked into so that recent photos can be downloaded - many apologies.
16/05/2009 - Shonn Cup Final
We believe history was created on Thursday evening when we were entertained by the first ever goalless cup final in the MJSL, even extra time could not separate the two top teams so it went to dreaded penalty shoot out where Westdene 1st edged the contest 5-3 with the final penalty being scored by Raffi Bloom. Leeds keeper had been outstanding throughout and got his hands on 2 of the Westdene penalties. The game seemed to erupt after half an hour when Manager Marc Hecht was sent off for foul and abusive language directed at an assistant referee disagreeing with his decision. Worst followed as a member of the dugout was also sent to the stands. All this happened after a tame start, but a full blooded contest ensued from then on. Leeds had hit the bar on 20 minutes and this was the only worthwhile shot of the first half.
The second half saw Leeds for the most part defend their territory like lions as Westdene pushed and pushed but could not break down the tean men. Other than a few brief attacks, Leeds held firm on the edge of their own area. Extra time saw the most action as there were at least 4 clearances off the line be it from corner, free kick or superb save fron the yorkshire custodian between the posts. Even in the last minute, twice the ball was inches from breaching the Leeds goal and so penalties took the stage. All players scored but Leeds player of the year Alex Singer (a Mancunian) was unlucky as his was saved which left the 5th and all important penalty to Bloom who took his shot with great aplomb. It was left to Jonny Alexander once again to lift the Shonn Trophy following their Feldman Cup success a fortnight ago. Photos will be available shortly.
16/05/2009 - 7 a side update
With two teams dropping out - Rep of Mancunia and Mcr Maccabi 4th - there will be 10 teams taking part tomorrow. As a result the comp will be revamped and probably 2 groups of 5 teams will be the format on the 3 pitches at Frederick Rd - all teams are reminded that the Manchester BUPA run is at the same time so various roads will be blocked and secretaries must be ready at 10am with first games ready to start at 10.30am. Those bringing nets and corner flags must have them in place by 10.15am. All proceeds go to charity and lets hope the rain keeps away !

08/05/2009 - Tony Cohen Cup Final
Last night Crumpsall got over their Feldman Cup Final defeat from Sunday by beating South Manchester Maccabi 2nd at Salford City FC. It was 2-0 at half time with Mark Shloime Friedman being Crumpsalls star slotting home twice in similar fashion with low drilled shots into the bottom left corner. A further goal to complete his hatrick made sure that Crumpsall won the trophy that has been sponsored for the longest time in MJSL history currently. Well done to Zevi and the team whilst Souths crop of youngsters and experience certainly played their part with only some excellent saves from Huddy Lieberman preventing a comeback.
03/05/2009 - Headlines for May 3
In the league Oakhill beat South Manchester 6-1 with Ash Burns and Sacha Nussenbaum both grabbing a brace.
The Feldman Cup Final was easily won by Westdene 1st who smashed 7 past Crumpsall with just 1 in reply. The game was all but over after the first half hour with Westdene 4 goals to the good and having signalled their intent when after just 5 mins Ben Rose hit a free kick against the Crumpsall bar.
The opening goal came after 10 minutes when a Jonny Alexander corner found its way to Dan Selwyn who scored clinically with a low shot. Raffi Bloom raced away 5 minutes later and drove the ball home making it 2-0, then Adam Leker hit a free kick which was deflected in at the near post by a Crumpsall defender. On the half hour Dave Eden struck a splendid 25 yarder and more or less sealed the victory, Crumpsall did have a goal disallowed earlier with an offside decision going against them or the ball had already gone over the dead ball line.
The second half started similarly to the first half and on 48 minutes a 5th goal was scored by Dan Amran with Dave Eden adding an excellent 6th just ten minutes later. Shortly after Crumpsall seemed to get their act together as Westdene perhaps took the foot off the gas slightly and a series of half chances may have seen a couple of goals go in then Moishe Cohen finally got reward for their team endeavour making it 1-6. Crumpsall then had another goal disallowed for offside which prompted westdene to just go up the other end and pop in a 7th and final goal thanks to a second from Bloom.
The game was officiated well by the the youngest official in the MJSL Eytan Haylon ably supported by stalwarts Sam Bernstein and Rob Zemmell. The Feldman family was represented by Mel and Daniel and for the 11th season presented the medals with Jonny Alexander lifting the trophy as the winning captain. Crumpsall will have a second bite of the cherry on Thursday evening in the Tony Cohen Final when they meet South Manchester Maccabi 2nd.
28/04/2009 - Midweek update
Leeds J-Uni finished their season with a narrow 4-3 victory over a spirited Westdene Reserves team, Roys Rovers could not field a team against South Mcr 2nd so the points have been awarded and last weekend similarly South Manchester failed to complete their fixture with Rep of Mancunia. 5 league games and 3 cup finals are left this season.

29/03/2009 - Headlines for Mar 29
Today saw a mixed bag of results with Westdene 1st standing out as they beat Oakhill 5-0 and look like finishing strongly and into 2nd place behind champions elect Leeds J-Uni. Haroldeans challenge was finally put to the sword as they lost by the odd goal in 3 to Mcr Maccabi 4th. Elsewhere it Westdene Reserves who overcame Sth Mct Maccabi 2nd with a thrilling 5-4 victory and Sporting were awarded the points as Rep of Mancunia were unable to field a team. Controversy ensued in the other match that was played between Roys Rovers and Crumpsall as the game was abandoned with about 5 minutes to go due to an incident that saw an ambulance attend to Yossi Saunders who was involved in an altercation with Leon Huller from Rovers - after a tackle there was a coming together which saw ref Mike Cohen send Huller off and with the injured Saunders still on the pitch, the game could not be completed - a report will be sent to the Executive and Manchester FA with no decision on the result as yet; at the time it was 3-2 to Rovers.
22/03/2009 - Headlines for Mar 22

Haroldeans beat Oakhill 2-0 and have a chance of finishing in the runners-up spot whilst Roys Rovers aspirations for a good finish in the league bit the dust as a strengthened Westdene Reserve team easily ran out 5-1 victors. Elsewhere Crumpsall nudged another place higher as they narrowly won by the odd goal in three over Sporting, and Rep of Mancunia found themselves at the bottom as Mcr Maccabi 4th similarly scrambled home 2-1 against them.
22/03/2009 - Fixtures updated for April
A new schedule of games has been distributed to all club secretaries this evening - there are some changes to the previous list so all teams should take note.
15/03/2009 - Headlines for Mar 15
2 league games were awarded this weekend as South Manchester 2nd and Haroldeans both failed to field teams with their opponents Sporting JLGB and Roys Rovers gaining 3 pts each. Teams have been severely warned about future cancellations as we approach the last 7 weeks of the season. Anyway back to those that were played and Leeds JNF J-Uni are officially and mathematically champions as they beat Westdene Reserves 5-0 with Josh Rubin grabbing a couple - well done to Leeds. The race is on for second place with all down to 6th in with a chance now as Westdene 1st went down 5-2 to Crumpsall just a week after progressing to the National QF, Uri Steinberg was on target twice. Finally Oakhill beat Rep of Mancunia 2-0 with Yishai Last getting both goals.
08/03/2009 - Headlines for Mar 8
Westdene drew 1-1 in extra time against Montana in the National trophy and then went through to the QF on penalties! Elsewhere Oakhill beat Roys Rovers 4-0 with Micky Kohn getting a couple. 01/03/2009 - Headlines for Mar 1
Mcr Maccabi 4th failed to field a team at home in the Tony Cohen QF against South Manchester Maccabi 2nd and the game is awarded to the away team. In the league, there maybe an unexpected twist in the title race yet, as the undefeatable Leeds J-Uni came unstuck and lost by the odd goal in 5 to second placed Westdene 1st - the first time the yorkshire based students have lost 3 pts. Interestingly the Feldman SF in April sees these two teams pitted against each other again. The main threat may actually come from elsewhere as Haroldeans are best placed to give it a go as they beat Westdene Reserves 5-0 and moved into 3rd but have 8 games still to play and a maximum 52 points available. This means Leeds would need 7 pts officially to secure the title from their remaining matches, providing the merseysiders won all their oustanding games. A quirk of the fixture list sees Leeds and Haroldeans meet next Sunday. Finally, Crumpsall and Oakhill played out a very rare MJSL 1-1 draw at Frederick Rd following last weeks 2-1 Feldman QF Crumpsall victory.
22/02/2009 - Headlines for Feb 22
Rep of Mancunia cancelled their match at Leeds on Friday so the game has been awarded to the potential MJSL champions. In the Feldman Quarter Finals there was a big suprise as Oakhill went out narrowly 1-2 at the hands of Crumpsall who now have a great chance of making the Final given that South Manchester Maccabi 2nds also progressed with a 5-1 win over Mcr Maccabi 4th. This means they will meet in one Semi with Westdene 1st playing Leeds J-Uni in the other. In a rearranged league game Roys Rovers just lost out 4-3 to a now second placed Westdene 1st and finally Haroldeans beat Westdene Reserves 7-3.
15/02/2009 - Update on Roy's Rovers cancelled matches Jan 11-Feb 1
Firstly, Westdene 1st have been awarded the Feldman QF tie which Roys Rovers failed to fulfil on Jan 25 and as a result their league game from Mar 22 has been brought forward to cover Feb 22 - Rovers will play Westdene 1st at Frederick rd. This decision is subject to any appeal that maybe lodged in the next week. Roy's Rovers league game away on Feb 1 to Haroldeans was awarded to the Merseysiders. Roy's Rovers home game against Haroldeans is rescheduled to Mar 15 following the pro Israel march in January.
15/02/2009 - Headlines for Feb 15

In the remaining match, South Manchester took Roy's Rovers to penalties after coming back from 3-1 down in normal time then 4-3 down in extra time, but to no avail as Rovers went through with penalty shoot out.
08/02/2009 - Headlines for Feb 8

01/02/2009 - Headlines for Feb 1

Leeds march to the title seems to be relentless with another resounding win, this time they smashed 8 against Sporting JLGB with Elliot Wallis getting a hatrick. Oakhill won overwhelmingly 7-1 and Dan Cohen grabbed a hatrick against Westdene Reserves. Westdene 1st hit 9 without Republic of Mancunia managing a reply, Jordan gold went nap bagging 5 of them. Zev Landsman scored 4 and Yossi Saunders 3 in Crumpsalls 8 against Maccabi 4th who only got one themselves. Roys Rovers could not field a team against Haroldeans and the points have been awarded to the Merseysiders.
25/01/2009 - Headlines for Jan 25
Only 2 games survived the weather this weekend, firstly Leeds J-Uni beat Haroldeans 7-0 in the Feldman QF whilst Sporting were edged out by a spirited Westdene Reserves 1-2 in the 1st round of the Tony Cohen Cup. 30/11/2008 - Headlines for Nov 30

Oakhill are in pusuit as they easily beat Crumpsall 6-0 whilst reigning champs Roy's Rovers faultered drawing 3-3 with Sporting, who were 2 up at one stage - again !

27/11/2008 - MATCH CARDS - signing by players
Please be aware that any player not having signed the match card and have played in the game at some point is deemed ineligible. We have received too many match cards this season without the full compliment of signatures which is an actual basic requirement to ensure that all teams are playing by the rules with registered players. No excuses will be allowed that it was the home teams delay, the ref didnt give you a chance or you arrived late. DO NOT ALLOW A PLAYER TO ENTER THE FIELD OF PLAY WITHOUT HAVING SIGNED THE MATCH CARD - if a kick off or a substitution is delayed then so be it. We cant warn teams any more without taking punitive action and all officials have been told to heed these words.
23/11/2008 - Headlines for Nov 23
Two draws, a great comeback, 100% record broken and a sending off were the order of the day in the MJSL. Firstly the only game at Frederick Rd saw reigning champions Roy's Rovers take on potential champions elect Leeds J-Uni and with goals at a premium, a 1-1 draw was perhaps expected with Green scoring for the students initially but within minutes Huller had equalised midway through the second period. An equally good game was played at Outwood where the final outcome was a 2-2 draw, Oakhill led at the break 2-1, Westdene missed a penalty and hit the woodwork several times but managed to grab the equaliser. Sporting JLGB yet again stormed into a first half lead, this time 2 goals over Mcr Maccabi 4th but again the second period saw a full turn around as Maccabi edged it by the odd goal in 5. Crumpsall once again failed to perform against a lower placed team going down 3-2 to South Mcr Maccabi 2nd although manager Zevi Saunders received a red card for a professional foul so it wasnt going to be easy to retrieve the game after finding themselves 3-1 down. The other game in Liverpool between Haroldeans and Westdene Reserves was postponed due to an unplayable pitch. In the Peter Morrison Trophy, scots Glasgow Maccabi travelled south to face Republic of Mancunia at Brooklands, ref was Stu Delmonte and on a very wet surface the away team won 4-2 although Repub performed admirably, the game was marred by a melee near the end with 2 Glasgow players sent off and Republic's Olly Basger although a couple of others may have taken an early bath as well.
23/11/2008 - Cup comps 2009
The MJSL Exec have decided the format of the 2 cups to be started in the new year. To ensure all teams interest and an equal chance of silverware, the Tony Cohen Trophy will include just the BOTTOM 6 teams as placed at the break in December, two games will be played initially with 2 teams having byes, the 2 winners of those games will move into the semi finals with the others who received byes. The Fay and Henry Shonn Trophy will be played for by all teams except that the BOTTOM 6 will play 3 preliminary round games to produce 3 winners to go into the quarter final draw with the remaining top 5. The BOTTOM 6 will be determined on an average points per game so it may not actually be the bottom 6 as the table actually reads before new year. The draws will be made before the break at the end of the year and will be communicated to all clubs and probably initial rounds will be played in early January.
19/11/2008 - Midweek result
Leeds continued with their perfect record as they hit Sporting for a dozen and made it 10 out of 10 victories with half the league season to go. There were 3 hatricks for Jonathan Green, Alex Hirschman and Josh Rubin.
16/11/2008 - Headlines for Nov 16
There were 3 players that grabbed at least 3 goals this weekend, helping their sides to good victories. Firstly and perhaps shock of the day came as reigning champions were humbled 6-1 by Oakhill who were themselves hit for 8 in midweek by Leeds J-Uni, Yishai Last smashed 4 of the 6. Leeds won 6-2 against Mcr Maccabi 4th and moved 11 points clear at the top of the table, looking uncatchable even at this stage of the season, their main scorer was Alex Hirschman with a hatrick. Michael Basger was the other player who scored 3 as bottom of the table South Mcr Maccabi 2nd bounced up a place by beating their nearest rivals Westdene Reserves 8-2. The other games saw Haroldeans go second by beating Sporting JLGB away at Frederick Rd, although it was not easy as Sporting went 2 up but then gradually it was the merseysiders who retrieved the position and won 4-2. Crumpsall edged Rep of Mancunia by the odd goal in 3, Matt Jacobs scoring the penalty that separated the teams with 8 minutes to go.
16/11/2008 - MJSL Council, FA Presentation and Exec Meetings - Nov 08
All clubs are reminded that the MJSL meeting starts at 7.15pm on Thursday evening with the Manchester FA "Respect" presentation being delivered followed by a Council meeting then an Exec Meeting. The other 2 league games ended up 4-0 with Sporting getting a second successive win in 8 days beating Westdene Reserves and Mcr Maccabi 4th similarly disposing of Sth Mcr Maccabi 2nd with Dave Baynard getting a brace.
In the National Trophy, perhaps the best performance came from Westdene 1st who beat Oakhill 1st with a fine 4-0 win, Haroldeans went down similarly to Mcr Maccabi 2nd. MJSL reigning champs Roy's Rovers were losing 2-0 at half time to Leeds Maccabi, grabbed 1 back, had several good chances but then let in 3 in last 10 mins and it ended up 5-1...

A day of relative shocks in the MJSL saw Haroldeans go down to Mcr Maccabi 4th by an unexpected scoreline of 3-1 with Adam Lavin grabbing a brace, Crumpsall disposed of Westdene 1st 4-2 with the assistance of a Natan Fagleman hatrick whilst Johnny Alexander replied with a couple and Roys Rovers scraped home by the odd goal in 5 against a very determined Sporting JLGB.

11/09/2008 - Preview - Sunday 14 September
There are now 4 games scheduled for this Sunday with last week's postponed Westdene Reserves v Sporting JLGB being the extra match which should prove a close encounter. 29/08/2008 - Cup Draws
Draws for the National Trophy and the MJSLs premier Cup competition were made at the AGM last night, dates to be confirmed shortly...
In the Peter Morrison Trophy there are 3 games in the 1st round with the winners joing the 5 other teams who have byes. The next round will produce 4 winners who will go into the National draw on February with southern qualifiers.
4 MJSL teams feature in the initial stage with 1 guaranteed passage through as Oakhill play at Westdene and even better, the resulting game in the next round will produce an MJSL team with Crumpsall awaiting the victors. Haroldeans will need a good performance to get past Mcr Maccabi 2nd and then would face Mcr Maccabi 1st for their endeavours. In the other game a tough clash sees MJSL champions Roys Rovers play host to Leeds Maccabi which should see a close encounter with the winners facing South Manchester Maccabi, again a tough reward for progressing... Republic of Mancunia have a harsh debut in the competition entertaining Glasgow Maccabi for a place in the National draw.
Also in the Feldman Trophy, 4 games will provide 4 winners to join the 4 remaining teams with byes, cup holders Haroldeans host Westdene and Republic of Mancunia face MJSL champions Roys Rovers. Full draws follow...

Haroldeans just edged Roy's Rovers in tonight's Shonn Trophy Final held at Altrincham FC. A keenly evenly fought contest saw Rovers have more possession but rarely threatening the Haroldeans goal. Two break away goals allowed Bobby Abrams to notch a great double and the Merseysiders retained the trophy. Congratulations to Ian Silverberg/Fraser Saville and their team ! Highlights follow on the link below >>>
In the MJSL Premier Division, Leeds J-Uni fielded an unregistered player when they beat Haroldeans last week - this game has been awarded to Haroldeans with 3 pts and a 0-0 scoreline(this is subject to any appeal that may be lodged). Also Westdene Nth Mcr KD could not field a team in their fixture against Haroldeans and this game has likewise been awarded to Haroldeans with a 0-0 scoreline.
The effect on the league table is that Haroldeans have completed their league programme and currently lie second with Roy's Rovers now not catchable and champions for the first time in the club's history, following their Div 1 title last season. Congratulations to Roy Marcus and his team - Leeds lie third but can retain 2nd spot if they win their final two games.

The students based in Yorkshire have 3 games remaining against Sth Mcr 2nd, Oakhill and Haroldeans, but will need maximum points to retain their title.

22/02/2008 - Headlines for Feb 17
In the Tony Cohen the Crumpsall derby saw the 1st team edge proceedings again with a 3-1 victory and Matt Jacobs getting a couple of goals, Westdene's Moishe Hasid grabbed 4 and secured a place in the Final also with a 6-1 win over Mcr Maccabi 5th who were their closest rivals. In the Premier Division, South's game in Leeds was called off due to a frozen surface and Oakhill's challenge still remains as they beat fellow challengers Haroldeans by the odd goal in 3.
10/02/2008 - Headlines for Feb 10
There was just one Premier Division game this weekend which was abandoned after 75 minutes due to Oakhill's secretary breaking his leg against Mcr Maccabi 4th. The Chairman has reported this has been a triple break but Jonathan Sacker is comfortable in hospital and thanks all concerned for their good wishes. The score was 4-1 at the time with Si Buchler notching a couple in the process. The Exec will confirm a decision on the result later this week. For the time being the table has been updated with a victory for Oakhill.
In the Tony Cohen, Crumpsall 1st continued with their excellent form with a 7-2 drubbing of Sth Manchester 3rd, Mark Friedman and Natan Fagleman both grabbing a brace. Also Mcr Maccabi 5th added to Sporting JLGB's woes as they edged their opponents 2-1.
05/02/2008 - New Fixtures
The next set of fixtures have now been sent out regarding February games, the Shonn Trophy will now be played as a normal knockout and not on a Round Robin basis as originally planned due to the recent postponements, this is for Premier Division teams plus Div 1 qualifier Westdene 3rd.
The Div 1 Tony Cohen Cup is currently be planned in as a Round Robin with 2 groups of 3, winners play in the Final with no semis, but this again is subject to change and dependent on weather over the next month.
In the Premier Division, the title remains in the balance with probably 4 teams still in with a chance of taking top spot and with the student teams unavailable for 6-7 Sundays through March and April due to Passover and university holidays, it is is difficult to see anything other than a last week finale.
In Division 1, with teams playing each other a total of 3 times, the title is still up for grabs, but hot favourites are Westdene 3rds with South Manchester Maccabi 3rds sat in a good position for promotion, with Sporting JLGB losing their way lately. Also Crumpsall 1st have been gaining momentum recently and it would be stupid to ignore their late run with quite a few matches remaining.
04/02/2008 - Headlines for Feb 4
In the Premier Division, Roy's Rovers reinforced their claim that they could very well be champions come May as they disposed of Oakhill 6-3 with Mike Gatswirth notching another hatrick. The challenging teams will take note as no other games were played in that division. Interestingly next week sees Rovers travel over the Pennines to play Leeds J-Uni and should the mancunians win, it will leave the yorkshire based team needing 9pts from their remaining 3 league games to probably retain their title - they will need to win at Haroldeans and Oakhill whilst having to beat Sth Mcr 2nd on their own patch. Obviously Haroldeans could still take the title if they get nearly maximum points in their remaining 5 games.
In Division 1, Westdene 3rds won with a jittery 3-2 win over an inspired Crumpsall 1st team. Crumpsall shocked the favourites storming to a 2-0 lead at the break with 2 goals from Mark Steinberg. In the second half, Westdene gradually edged their way back into the game and Johnny Alexander's double evened the score, and right at the end Moishe Hasid was on hand to chip in a 3rd and take all 3 points. Crumpall 2nd had an excellent result beating title hopefuls Sporting JLGB 3-1.
There were two cancelled fixtures in the Feldman Quarter Finals as South Manchester 3rd could not field a team against Mcr Maccabi 4th who go through and also Westdene North Manchester KD were suspended by Manchester FA for non payment of a fine so the game versus Haroldeans was awarded also under FA rules. Suprisingly reigning Premier champions bowed out of the competition as a magnificent performance from South's 2nd team saw an extra time victory - more details attached...

27/01/2008 - Headlines for Jan 27
In the Premier Division, Roy's Rovers went top with a nail biting 4-3 win over Mcr Maccabi 4th with Mike Gatswirth grabbing a hatrick for the new league leaders. The game in Leeds was postponed leaving Oakhill to flounder and lose away on Merseyside to a buoyant Haroldeans who edged the 3 points by two goals to one.
In Division 1, Sporting JLGB lost out badly and suprisingly 4-1 to Mcr Maccabi 5th whilst Crumpsall 1st again beat their 2nd team counterparts, this time with a 3-1 scoreline. Westdene 3rd went top as they beat the league leaders Sth Mcr Maccabi 3rd comfortably 4-0 with Raffi Bloom and Moishe Hasid both notching a brace.

20/01/2008 - Headlines for Jan 20
All games were postponed due to the weather conditions except one Feldman Cup Quarter Final. Oakhill Lions scored 9 against Manchester Maccabi's 5th team, who themselves played their part grabbing 4 goals (Vatenmather 2, Elton and Cooper). This is a reminder that there will be a Council Meeting at 8pm on Thursday 24 Jan followed by an Exec Meeting.
13/01/2008 - Headlines for Jan 13
It was all square in the Premier Division as both games ended with honours even. Indeed even rarer, was a goalless draw between Roy's Rovers and Sth Mcr Maccabi 2nd. The other game saw Mcr Maccabi 4th draw 3-3 in Liverpool with Haroldeans. Division 1 games saw 2 victories with Westdene 3rd beating Mcr Maccabi 5th 5-1 and Ben Rose grabbing a hatrick, Crumpsall 2nd were losing by a goal at half time but turned in an excellent second half performance and eventually ran out 3-1 winners having the luxury of also missing a penalty. Next week is the Feldman Trophy Quarter Finals.
08/01/2008 - MJSL Council and Exec Meetings - Jan 08
The next MJSL Council Meeting will take place at 8pm on Thurs 24 Jan at Bury Shul with the Executive Meeting following on. All Clubs must be represented.
07/01/2008 - Headlines for Jan 6
In the Premier Division, Haroldeans just edged South Manchester 2nd winning by the odd goal in 5 whilst Mcr Maccabi 4th slammed nine past a beleaguered Nth Mcr KD/Westdene with (5th teamer stepping up) Boris Vatenmather notching 4 goals.
In Division 1, an amazing 6-6 draw ensued between the two favourites Westdene 3rd and Sporting JLGB, who now both find themselves behind South Manchester 3rd. Rose grabbed a hatrick for Westdene in the process. In the Crumpsall derby a marvellous competitive and enjoyable game saw the 1st team just score the winning goal of 3 in the final 5 minutes. South 3rd went top by beating Mcr Maccabi 5th by 4 goals to one.
25/12/2007 - Fixtures updated for January
The website now includes the new set of games issued by the Fixtures Secretary recently. The Feldman Trophy moves to the Quarter Final stage on Sunday 20 Jan with league games scheduled throughout the first month of 2008. A happy new year is wished to all from the MJSL Executive.
16/12/2007 - Headlines for Dec 16 (Seniors)
There was only one game that beat the weather this weekend, Crumpsall were held to a goalless draw by Mcr Maccabi 5th, after their recent winning exploits, but although dominating for the most part and hitting the woodwork, nearly lost as Maccabi missed a disputed penalty.
09/12/2007 - Headlines for Dec 9 (Seniors)
No games were played due to the poor weather conditions
02/12/2007 - Headlines for Dec 2nd (Seniors)
Only 2 games survived the weather, both saw top versus bottom clashes, but with very different outcomes! The Premier Division reigning champions Leeds J-Uni convincingly beat Westdene North Manchester KD 10-2 with Anthony Beilin notching a hatrick in the process. In Division 1, Crumpsall once again pulled off a most memorable underdogs victory with a superb 6-1 win in the mudbath at Frederick Road against a bewildered Sporting JLGB whose early season form seems to have lapsed recently.
All Junior matches were cancelled due to the weather.
25/11/2007 - Headlines for Nov 25 (Seniors)
In the Premier Division, Roy's Rovers will need to go to Leeds and Sth Mcr Maccabi 2nds to Merseyside later in the season as these games were postponed. Oakhill took advantage of the situation by beating Mcr Maccabi 4th team 4-1 with Asher Gershuny notching a hatrick.
In Div 1, Westdene's game versus Crumpsall 1st was not played but Crumpsall's 2nd team were narrowly beaten by Sth Mcr's 3rd team 2-0.
Shock of the day was definitely league leaders and newly formed Sporting JLGB being dumped out of the Feldman Trophy by Mcr Maccabi 5th, losing by the odd goal in three.
You can also now click on the Junior channel to see the weekend's results and temporary updated league tables in the news section.
25/11/2007 - North Manchester KD to join up with Westdene
With North Manchester KD struggling for players to fulfil fixtures, Westdene have stepped in and with the help of the MJSL Executive, the following agreement has been reached which will ensure all current players will continue to play football this season and also some that were not, will now benefit from the arrangement >>>>
25/11/2007 - Postponements
In accordance with all previous seasons, if you are the home team secretary and your pitch is unplayable then your game is not automatically called off. This can only be confirmed by the Fixtures Secretary initially as an alternative viable location will be sought. Given the fact that the MJSL has full control over the pitches at Frederick Rd, unless they have been called off by the council, there will always be at least one spare. If the Fixtures Secretary (or alternatively Secretary/Chairman/Ref Secretary) advises that the game should be moved, ONLY a referee can then call the match off, it is not negotiable or by mutual agreement between the two teams in question.
23/11/2007 - Feldman Cup draw
At last night's Executive Meeting, the following draw was made :
Haroldeans v North Manchester KD
Sporting JLGB/Mcr Maccabi 5th v Oakhill Lions
Sth Mcr Maccabi 2nd v Leeds J-Uni
Sth Mcr Maccabi 3rd v Mcr Maccabi 4th
Date to be confirmed
18/11/2007 - Headlines for Nov 18
In the Shonn Trophy, Crumpsall's valiant effort to get through the Qualifying Round came to an end as Westdene put them to the sword with a Johnny Alexander hatrick in a 4-1 defeat. Westdene will now join the 7 Premier Division teams in the Quarter Finals.
Back to the league and once again Roy's Rovers' inconsistency surfaced as they fell badly 7-2 to Haroldeans at Frederick Rd. Bobby Abrams grabbed a hatrick with James Abrams notching a brace. A fortnight ago Rovers beat reigning champions Leeds J-Uni 5-3. Leeds themselves seemed to have got their act together and warded off the threat of perennial rivals Oakhill with an excellent 3-1 win over their fellow students.
In Div 1, Mcr Maccabi 5th also reversed some recent poor results as they beat Crumpsall 2nd convincingly by a 5-1 scoreline with Ray Tamman and Josh Cooper both scoring a couple in the process. For a preview of next week >>>

12/11/2007 - Next week's preview
On Sunday 18 Nov, the MJSL enjoys some very interesting clashes that could have huge immediate impact on several competitions as firstly in the Premier, the two prominent student teams go head to head as Leeds J-Uni host Oakhill Lions over the Pennines. Should Oakhill win, then they will consider themselves as genuine title contenders, if Leeds take the points then they should push on as title favourites. Roy's Rovers play host to Haroldeans who will travel to Manchester facing a team looking for another 3 points and hungry for their elusive first ever Premier championship, this will be their 8th from 12 league games and they will not want to drop points at this stage.
In the Shonn Trophy, Crumpsall 1st have shocked everybody including Sporting JLGB who were duly swept aside yesterday. They face Westdene at Frederick Rd for a place in the Quarter Finals with the 7 Premier Division teams. Westdene beat Crumpsall 7-1 when they last met but on current form, one would not bet against a much tougher encounter. In the league, Mcr Maccabi's 5th team take on Crumpsall 2nd team.
11/11/2007 - Headlines for Nov 11
Pride of place once again goes to Crumpsall 1st who superbly knocked Sporting JLGB 4-0 out of the Shonn Trophy to earn a final qualifying game versus Westdene 3rd, who themselves just about came through their stern test with South Manchester's 3rd team winning by the odd goal in 9.
In the Premier Division, there was also a surprise when reigning champions Leeds J-Uni dropped 2 valuable points as they shared 4 goals with Mcr Maccabi's 4th team. Oakhill Lions hung on to the leading pack as they edged out an awkward South Manchester 2nd outfit by 3 goals to 2, albeit after a valiant effort from South.

04/11/2007 - Headlines for Nov 4
In the Premier, Roy's Rovers and Leeds J-Uni both won their respective games convincingly this weekend following last week's tempestuous encounter against each other. In Div 1, it was South Manchester Maccabi 3rd who stole the limelight with what possibly would be considered a shock 4-1 win over pacesetters Sporting JLGB.
Crumpsall 1st won for a second week in succession as they progressed to the next round in the Shonn Trophy beating Mcr Maccabi 5th by 5-1. In the other qualifying game, Westdene easily won 7-1 against Crumpsall's second string.

Mcr Maccabi 4th dealt a blow to any title aspirations that South Mcr Maccabi 2nd had as they ran out 2-0 winners. More on the Rovers/Leeds clash follows...

With many reports of car break ins at Frederick Rd pitches, the MJSL will have a security person on site from 10.45 till 1.00 every Sunday from this coming weekend. The Council have also been notified and we would hope there will be some community police presence in the area at some point.
22/10/2007 - Headlines for Oct 21
The Feldman Trophy 1st round through up some interesting clashes and it was not without some suprising results as the holders Westdene 3rd bit the dust losing out by the odd goal in seven against last year's promoted team North Manchester KD who clearly reconfirmed their proud status in the Premier Division. 07/10/2007 - Headlines for Oct 7
The student teams fared slightly differently this weekend as reigning champs Leeds beat an awkward Mcr Maccabi 4th by 3 goals to 1 whilst Oakhill may rue this early season defeat next April, as they lost to the odd goal in 3 to South Mcr Maccabi 2nd who have a habit of turning out impressive performances against the more fancied teams. Praise goes to Dan Ash who grabbed a brace against the Manchester students.
In Div 1, the 2 strongest teams accrued another 3 points with both Westdene 3rd and Sporting JLGB enjoying easy victories. Sporting cracked 5 past South Mcr Maccabi 3rd with Alex Woolf scoring a hatrick, Westdene slammed 11 past Crumpsall with Dan Zegze going nap hitting 5. Next week's games follow ...

30/09/2007 - Headlines for Sept 30
A busy schedule in the MJSL saw 5 games in total with 3 student teams starting their season in the Premier Division. It was mixed fortunes as Haroldeans lost 2-0 on their own patch to league leaders Roy's Rovers, Oakhill just edged a 9 goal thriller against newly promoted North Manchester KD whilst reigning champions beat a resilient South Mcr Maccabi 2nd string by 3-1.
In Div 1, Sporting JLGB continued their good form overwhelming Crumpsall 9-2, Sam Goodman got a hatrick and Alex Woolf grabbed 4 in the process. Mcr Maccabi 5th lost 6-3 to South's 3rd team with Ben Jegar also getting a hatrick. Next week's games follows ..

There is no change to this coming Sunday's fixtures, Broughton's records have been expunged, goalscorers in their opening and only game have been deleted.
23/09/2007 - Broughton J/Wam withdrawal
The MJSL was notified this week that Broughton J/Wam had withdrawn from the league with immediate effect, thus rendering their game today against Westdene as cancelled. 23/09/2007 - Headlines for Sept 23
With Broughton's withdrawal and the removal of their fixtures, 2 games took place in Div 1 and these saw South Manchester Maccabi 3rd beat Crumpsall by 11-1 with Dave Tragen smashing 4 in the process, whilst Sporting JLGB disposed of Manchester Maccabi 5th by a similar 9-1 scoreline. Crumpsall's 20-2 win over Broughton has been removed from the first week of the season. The table reflects this amendment.
In the Premier Division, North Manchester KD lost by the odd goal in 5 against South Mcr Maccabi 2nd who afforded a missed penalty near the end of the game. Roy's Rovers beat Mcr Maccabi's 4th string by 6-0, Mike Gastwirth netting a hatrick.

16/09/2007 - Headlines for Sept 16
In the Premier Division, a tight game saw Roy's Rovers share 4 goals and the points with Sth Mcr Maccabi 2nd and in doing so both also shared top spot, whilst Mcr Maccabi 4th got over their opening days blues from last week by recording a 4-1 victory over newly promoted North Manchester KD who look like they could struggle after 2 defeats in a row.
In the only game of the day in Division 1, favourites Westdene 3rd smashed a dozen past Mcr Maccabi's 5th team who should take some satisfaction as they scored 4 themselves with Dan Seligman notching a hatrick. 3 players scored a brace each for the league leaders with two of these being debutants, indeed Raphi Hasid blazed a 40 yarder in from his own half and playing at centre back !

12/09/2007 - National Trophy - LAST CALL
Can all clubs who have not yet replied to Brian/myself regarding National Trophy applications, please advise me asap by text or email so that Maccabi Union Football are aware of number of entrants
09/09/2007 - Headlines for Sept 9
In the Premier Division, it was honours even as South Manchester's 2nd team beat Mcr Maccabi's 4th team by 5 clear goals as indeed Roy's Rovers also beat fellow promoted club North Manchester KD in a 6-1 victory. Max Cohen and Mike Gatswirth grabbed a brace each for Rovers.
In Division 1, two totaly different games saw the two fancied teams fight out a 2-2 draw as Westdene 3rd and Sporting JLGB went head to head, whilst Crumpsall trounced newly re-formed Broughton J/wam by 20 goals to 2.
Next week's fixtures see Westdene take on Mcr Maccabi 5th in Div 1 and in the Premier, Mcr Maccabi 4th host North Mcr KD and Sth Mcr Maccabi 2nd take on Roy's Rovers in probably the best game of the day.

Until further notice, the website will remain in its current format as background enhancement is taking place. This should be completed very shortly with last season's stats eventually archived. Please bear with us and normal service will be resumed..
04/09/2007 - Fixtures for Sept 9th
The first Sunday of the season sees 2 games in both divisions with both newly promoted sides from last season going head to head in the Premier. Roy's Rovers pipped North Manchester KD for the Division 1 title back in May so this should be an interesting opener. The other game in the top flight sees Mcr Maccabi 4th play host to South Mcr Maccabi 2nd, and as per last season both of these sides on their day can prove awkward to beat.
In Division 1, an enthralling clash sees Westdene 3rd who must be favourites for the title face the new Sporting JLGB (last season's FC KD with some new players added), who themselves will hope to be challenging at the top. Broughton have also had changes in personnel and they take on Crumpsall who as last season progressed, improved week on week and may just suprise a lot of teams. Full fixture list follows with venues...
PREMIER DIVISION
Mcr Maccabi 4th v Sth Mcr Maccabi 2nd @ Brooklands
North Mcr KD v Roy's Rovers @ Frederick Rd 1
DIVISION ONE
Broughton J/Wam v Crumpsall @ Frederick Rd 3
Sporting JLGB v Westdene 3rd @ Frederick Rd 2
02/09/2007 - New Season dawns
The 2007-08 season will start next Sunday - September 9th. The MJSL will once again be sponsored by the Jewish Chronicle. There will be 2 divisions like last year with the Premier having 7 teams and Division 1 with 6. Bowdon Boys have withdrawn, with Roy's Rovers and North Manchester KD being promoted, Broughton J/Wam being relegated. FC KD to all intensive puposes have been renamed and reformed and will now be known as Sporting JLGB in Div 1 with Mcr Maccabi 6th not having a team this season.
The Feldman Trophy will be competed for by all clubs, the Fay and Henry Shonn Trophy will be similar to last season with Div 1 teams playing off preliminary rounds to enter the later stages with the Premier teams. The Tony Cohen Cup will just be for Div 1 which will shortly have a new sponsor. The Premier Div will once again be called the Joan Collins Premier Division.
The website will be shortly updated to reflect the new season and hopefully for seniors will be available by next week's start. With the Junior small sided football coming under the auspices of the MJSL generally, a channel is being developed specifically for this purpose and it is hoped by mid October this will also be fully operational.

21/05/2007 - 7 a side report
Westdene lifted their third cup of the season as they ran out eventual winners of the Mike Samberg Israel 7 a side trophy. Scores and tables will be emailed within next 24 hours to the Press and secretaries...
Highlights were as follows, with Oakhill failing to appear it meant that Group 4 saw Westdene and Crumpsall both qualify for the quarter finals and it was these 2 teams who met in the Final some 5 hours later.
Leeds J-Uni, Haroldeans and Sth Mcr Maccabi all won their groups with North Mcr KD, Mcr Maccabi A and B qualifying as runners up. The 4 semi finalists took shape with Westdene who disposed of Haroldeans facing Mcr Maccabi A who had beaten Leeds J-Uni on penalties. Crumpsall had beaten Mcr Maccabi B on penalties to earn the right to play North Mcr KD, who themselves had disposed of Sth Mcr Maccabi.
Westdene beat Mcr Maccabi A with a good first half performance where fitness really told whilst the suprise package was Crumpsall who ran out winners against North Mcr KD defending their 3 goal handicap superbly.
The Final started quite evenly until Westdene finally got into their stride and the 3-1 starting scoreline eventually was eroded. The final score was 5-3 and both teams received their medals from the Samberg family. Well done to around 100 players, officials and committee members who all contributed to a marvellous day.

21/05/2007 - Broughton J/Wam
This is to confirm that Broughton J/Wam have withdrawn from the MJSL. Broughton who would have been relegated to Division 1, struggled to fulfil their fixtures in the last 2-3 months of the season resulting in this decision. They obviously did not take part in the annual 7 a side trophy.
14/05/2007 - Headlines for May 13
In the final match of the season in the Feldman Trophy Final, underdogs Westdene 3rd managed to thwart Leeds J-Uni's double attempt by winning 5-4 in Extra Time. The game was played at Oldham Town FC and was a credit to the MJSL. Well done to both teams for serving up a real cracker of a game...

14/05/2007 - 7 a side - Sunday 20 May
Sunday sees the rescheduled 7 a side tournament at Frederick Rd. Of the original 15 teams, Roy's Rovers chose not to enter with Mcr Maccabi and South Manchester Maccabi both withdrawing a team each due to exams along with Broughton leaving 12 teams to compete as follows >>>>

07/05/2007 - Headlines for May 6
Haroldeans ran out comfortable winners 4-0 evemtually against a spirited North Manchester KD side, who proved they will be a valuable asset to the Premier Division next season. With 3 goals flying in before half time, Haroldeans were always going to get the hands on this season's Shonn Trophy after narrowly missing out last season. A couple from Bobby Abrams and one each from Rick Paydon and James Abrams secured the victory.
In the final league game in Division 1, Westdene ran out 4-2 winners against Mcr Maccabi 5th with Rafi Bloom grabbing a couple as the curtain came down on the Division One season.
30/04/2007 - Broughton J/Wam
Broughton have failed to complete 4 league fixtures out of 12 and the MJSL have decided to deduct 3 points for the 3rd of the 4 which followed a previous warning and last Sunday when the fourth was not completed, a further 3 points. It was a farcical situation which saw only 8 players start the game against Mcr Maccabi 4th but as one person was knowingly leaving at half time, the game had to be abandoned under FA rules.
The Executive consider this totally unacceptable and disadvantages their opponents by depriving them of a game of football, on some occasions with less than an hour notice. Expenses are incurred by officials and players alike and the players at the club have shown no regard for any of these parties. The MJSL Executive will deal with the whole matter in due course.
29/04/2007 - Headlines for April 29
Westdene won the Tony Cohen Cup Final as for the 3rd season running the Division 1 champions were beaten by the underdogs. Roy's Rovers conceded an early own goal (Tal Marcus was the unfortunate player) but then equalised through Andrew Levy.
In the second half it was Rafi Bloom who broke the 1-1 stalemate with a good goal beating a square Rovers defence. A scramble and a last touch by Brett Howarth made it 3-1 then Ben Rose smashed home the best goal of the day from 20 yards to seal a 4-1 victory. Rovers had 4 chances to reduce the deficit but failed on each occasion as shots went wide or over the bar.
In the Premier Division, Broughton J/Wam disappointed another team for the third successive game. They managed to start the match against Mcr Maccabi 3rd with just 8 players and were 3-0 down at half time courtesy of 2 Daniel Feldman goals and 1 from Dave Baynard. Then controversy reigned as one of Broughton's players left for a prior engagement meaning they were down to 7 players and at this point the game had to be abandoned. This was the 4th occasion in total this season that Broughton had not completed a match and the MJSL Executive will be looking into this as a very serious matter.
29/04/2007 - 7 a side
The 7 a side competition postponed from March will now take place on May 20th (the day after the FA Cup Final). All teams area llowed to enter and unless the MJSL hear otherwise by Sunday May 6th, all will be taking part accordingly. It is hoped that Leeds J-Uni and Roy's Rovers will both receive their Championship Trophies and medals during the day's activities. Other presentations should be the Player of the Year, Secretary of the Year, Top Goalscorer and Sportsmanship trophy.
29/04/2007 - Games awarded recently
The following games have been awarded to the first named teams with 3 points and a goalless scoreline. Offending teams have been fined accordingly under Rule 29 of MJSL constitution.
Haroldeans v Broughton J/Wam (15/4/07)
Leeds J-Uni v Broughton J/Wam (22/4/07)
Leeds J-Uni v Bowdon Boys (25/4/07)
26/04/2007 - Tables updated correctly
All adjustments that were temporary have been removed now as the website tables are fully correct. any cancelled games have had 3 pts awarded to the non offending team with a goalles scoreline and a win included in that team's stats - obviously the offending team has a defeat with a goalless scoreline. This of course excludes any other decisions made by the MJSL Exec depending on circumstances.
26/04/2007 - Headlines for April 25
Roy's Rovers won their last game at the weekend and with it the Division 1 title, North Manchester KD will be kicking themselves for their last game defeat at the hands of F.C. K.D. - Special mention to Crumpsall and Zevi Saunders who recorded their first deserved win of the season as they edged South 3rds out by a slim 2-1 margin. Westdene won 5-2 and followed it up with a 4-4 draw in midweek, ending the season in a creditable third and 2 cup finals to look forward to in the process.
In the Premier, Haroldeans, Leeds and Oakhill won their games and with Broughton cancelling 2 games in the last fortnight, the title will be heading to the yorkshire students. Leeds will prepare for a league and cup double also.
21/04/2007 - MJSL contact details for Sunday 22 April - scores / scorers
Please note that im on holiday till Wednesday 25 April and uncontactable, therefore all info after tomorrow's games MUST be sent to Brian Myer directly by TEXT only. All Club secretaries should advise their managers accordingly. This is just for this weekend only.
Many thanks
Paul Rose
15/04/2007 - Headlines for April 15
In the Feldman Trophy Westdene turned the competition on its head with a marvellous 4-2 victory over reigning Premier champions Oakhill. The students had Dan Abrahams sent off for handball inside 10 minutes so struggled to play their normal game against their opponents who took good advantage of this and rattled in 4 goals in the end - just 2 in reply from Oakhill.
In the other semi, form team Leeds J-Uni beat Mcr Maccabi 4th by a similar scoreline of 4-1, Jason Miller smashed in a hatrick to take them into the Final to be played in early May. Two penaties ultimately cost the visitors dear. Leeds play Westdene in the Final.
Broughton J/Wam cancelled their game with Haroldeans at 10am and will face a decision by the MJSL Executive shortly - this was the second occasion that this has occurred this season.
In Division One, North Manchester KD again lost to their counterparts FC K.D. and this could be really costly with the league title beckoning. Adam Schwinger's doubled helped the underdogs to a momentous 3-2 victory, repeating an earlier cup success.
Roy's Rovers will now have a great chance of taking the spoils in their final match. a win will secure the title as they are one goal worst off in terms of goal dofference so a draw will not suffice.
Crumpsall scored 3 but lost out to Mcr Maccabi 6th who just edged it with James Hilton scoring a couple. Mcr Maccabi 5th beat South Mcr Maccabi 3rd convincingly 4-1.
08/04/2007 - Headlines for April 8
In the Fay and Henry Shonn Trophy Semi Finals, North Manchester KD upset the applecart with a victory over holders Manchester Maccabi 4th. The game went to extra time and the Division One side just edged it 2-1. Alleged controversial decisions were given by ref Stu Delmonte, the last one resulting in a penalty award and ultimately the winning goal.
A weakened Haroldeans side disposed of Bowdon Boys in the other Semi with a 3-0 scoreline, setting up the unlikely meeting with North Manchester KD at Boundary Park in May.
In the Tony Cohen Trophy Semi Finals, Westdene led the way with an expected win over F.C.K.D. as Johnny Alexander smashed in 4 goals of a 6-1 rout. Roy's Rovers also paved their way to the Final as they beat off a challenge from holders Manchester Maccabi 5th, Colin Rich scored twice in a 4-0 victory.
01/04/2007 - Headlines for April 1
In the game of the day Roy's Rovers lost for the second time in a week and this means that North Manchester KD need to win their last game to win the title as they suprisingly also dropped points but got a point in a goalless draw. A superb performance from South Manchester Maccabi 3rd over Rovers who showed what amateur football is all about with their undeniable commitment and passion for the game.
Stratton grabbed 2 with Collins and Herz completing the scoresheet, Levy got a consolation after a parried penalty. Only black marks for the day were two red cards for 2 Rovers players in the second half who clearly were increasingly frustrated with the way the game was going. Manchester Maccabi 5th put the brakes on North Manchester's charge also as they held the other title hopefuls toa rarae nil-nil in the MJSL !
In the other game in Division One, Westdene carried on their good form with a 9-0 rout over Mcr Maccabi 6th, Johnny Alexander got a couple along with Simon Nesbit and the team went 3rd.
26/03/2007 - Headlines for March 25
Three games were scheduled for this weekend but unfortunately only one took place.
Top of the table in Division 1, Roy's Rovers lost for the first time this season to a confident Westdene. The away team won by the odd goal in 5 and have really got themselves together over recent weeks progressing to 2 Semi Finals also. Raffi Bloom gabbed a couple as Rovers will know they now have a fight on their hands to the end of the season.
It really is up for grabs as North Manchester KD and Roy's Rovers are level on points and only separated by a single goal with just 2 matches remaining for both... Interestingly North's final game is against F.C. K.D on 15 April, who recently knocked them out of the cup and Roy's Rovers last match is a week later against Mcr Maccabi 6th on 22 April.
South Manchester Maccabi had to cancel both their games (for 2nds and 3rds) as there was a lack of availability on behalf of their registered players; the games against Haroldeans in the Premier Division and Mcr Maccabi 6th in Division 1 have both been awarded with full points to the respective opponents.
The tables have been updated, officially there should be a win registered with a 0-0 scoreline but this is current not possible on the website so a draw is registered with +2pts to the 1pt for the winning team and -1pt from the 1pt gained by the "cancelling" team. Any queries please email me...
18/03/2007 - CANCELLED 7 a side tournament - Sunday 8.30am
Due to the weather conditions and forecast for the rest of the day, the 7 a side tournament has been cancelled, hopefully to be rescheduled to a later date. All teams and officials have been contacted.
11/03/2007 - Headlines for March 11
The only game in the Premier Division saw an amazing 4-1 win for Haroldeans as Oakhill secure grip on the title now looks as though it could be a very interesting end to the season.
In Division 1, Westdene disposed of Westdene by 5-0 although Crumpsall managed to hit the woodwork and put up a spirited performance. FC K.D. knocked in 4 past the youngsters from Manchester Maccabi 6th whilst Roy's Rovers beat Manchester Maccabi 5th just by 2-0 to return to the top of the table on goal difference, albeit with a game in hand.
Next weekend sees the annual 7 a side with 15 teams entered and only Roy's Rovers not represented. The draw will be made at the Executive Meeting on Tuesday night and announced before the weekend.
09/03/2007 - 7 a side
Lists of players must be submitted to the Reg Secretary by Monday 8pm please.
If you want to email myself and Mel then this is fine...
The draw will be made at Exec Meeting on Tuesday night - there are 15 teams currently
06/03/2007 - New fixture schedule
Fixtures to the end of season are now on the website and updated for all competitions, the 7 a side competition will take place on March 18 whilst the dates for the cup semi finals are as follows : Shonn Trophy and Tony Cohen Cup on April 8 with Feldman Trophy on April 15. All clubs will have a new fixture list (in excel format) very shortly and this will override any previously distributed.
04/03/2007 - Headlines for March 4
In the Tony Cohen Cup, there was an absolute cracker of a game as FC K.D. managed to beat their close colleagues from North Manchester KD just. At the end of play it was 3-3 and it was the underdogs who progressed into the semis with a 4-2 penalty shoot out win. FC KD penalties from Alex Woolf, Josh Woolf, Sam Goodman, Josh Foxler - Nth Mcr penalties from James Rosenberg and Jonny Rashman.
Roy's Rovers swept aside Sth Mcr Maccabi 3rd slamming in 6 with Colin Rich grabbing a brace, Westdene progressed with a 3-1 win over Manchester Maccabi 6th - Johnny Alexander getting two goals also.
In the Premier, South Manchester Maccabi 2nd beat Mcr Maccabi 4th by 5-2, a hatrick from Mike Stratton most certainly helped the cause.
04/03/2007 - Cup draws
All dates to be confirmed in due course :
Feldman Trophy SF
Leeds JNF J-Uni v Mcr Maccabi 4th
Oakhill Lions v Westdene 3rd
Tony Cohen SF

(Roy's Rovers appeal against a decision to award fixture to North Manchester KD in Shonn ... was rejected and North Manchester play Mcr Maccabi 4th)
25/02/2007 - Headlines for Feb 25
In this year's Feldman Quarter Finals ...
Oakhill easily beat South Manchester Maccabi 3rd by 5-1 but a missed penalty could have meant a different story. Leeds J-Uni disposed of Mcr Maccabi 5th by a similar scoreline of 6-1. Steve Lee's 2 goals saw the all Premier division match between Mcr Maccabi 4th and Broughton swing in favour of the former with a 2-1 scoreline.
Best performance of the day definitely came from Westdene, who last week lost 4-2 to North Manchester KD - this week they took on second placed in Premier - Bowdon and not only beat them, but beat them well with a 4-0 victory. On Thursday evening at the next Council Meeting, the draw for the Semi Finals will take place (games will be played on Sunday 11 March.
In Division 1, Rafi Leker and David Eden both hit hatricks for North Manchester KD as they rattled in 9 goals against Mcr Maccabi 6th and went top of their league with Roy's Rovers not playing.
25/02/2007 - Council and Executive Meeting - March 1st
This is a reminder to all club secretaries and Executive members that Thursday will see the last Council Meeting of the season. Draws for the Feldman and Tony Cohen cup competitions will be made.
Your club must be represented of course.
18/02/2007 - Headlines for Feb 18
In the Premier Division, Oakhill continued to put points in the bag at the top of the league, by repeating last week's win over Mcr Maccabi 4th this time without reply and by 4 goals to nil. Leeds J-Uni won yet another close encounter with Haroldeans, narrowly squeezing home 2-1 to jump themselves into second spot.
In Division One, Westdene seemed to have most of the ball and chances against North Manchester KD but somehow contrived to concede 4 goals against the run of play which left them with too much to do. The second placed team won 4-2 but towards the end, there were 2 red cards shown to Westdene players for what appeared to be persistent dissent. Earlier Westdene's manager was red carded and told by ref Brian Myer to leave the touchline area for similar offences.
FC K.D. won by the odd goal in 5 against Mcr Maccabi 5th and Crumpsall lost 6-1 to South Manchester Maccabi 3rd. Roy's Rovers have been awarded the points against Mcr Maccabi 6th who could not field a team. The website table has been updated with "adjustments" as the score officially is a 0-0 win (per FA rules).
Finally in the National Trophy Quarter Finals - Manchester Maccabi 1st narrowly edged out a defiant Chigwell from London, Ashley Loofe's free kick after 78 mins separating the sides. Faithfold A await in the semis. South Manchester 1st team hopes were smashed 6-1 by a good Hendon side who will possibly meet London Lions eventually at the Semi Final stage. The Final is provisionally booked for Oldham AFC's Boundary Park in May.
11/02/2007 - Headlines for Feb 11
Broughton failed to field a team in leeds today and cancelled the game with less than an hour to kick off which the MJSL Exec found unacceptable and in keeping with consistent rulings, the cancellation has caused the game to be awarded with 3pts to Leeds.
Oakhill got back to winning ways after last week's exit to Bowdon in the cup. Paul Bentley got a brace as they beat Mcr Maccabi 4th 4-1 and went top for the first time this season.
In Div 1, Crumpsall went down 5-2 to F.C. K.D. as Alex Woolf notched a hatrick whilst Mcr Maccabi 5th easily beat their own 6th team 10-1, Jamie Cooper grabbing a double hatrick and Marc Woolfe also getting 3.
04/02/2007 - Headlines for Feb 4
In the Shonn Trophy Quarter Finals, Bowdon knocked out great rivals Oakhill with a 2-0 victory, Haroldeans put Leeds J-Uni out with a 7-6 win on penalties after a 2-2 draw in Extra Time. Mcr Maccabi 4th beat Westdene 3rd by 5-1 and the other tie was cancelled. Roy's Rovers cancelled the game and a decision has been made to award the game to the opposition (this is subject to appeal).
In the Tony Cohen 1st round, Crumpsall seem to be improving with their least number of goals conceded in a match but lost out 3-0 to Mcr Maccabi 5th. In Div 1, Sth Mcr 3rd beat F.C. K.D. 4-2.
28/01/2007 - Headlines for Jan 28
Shock of the day occurred in the Shonn Trophy as 1st Division North Manchester KD beat Broughton
by 2 clear goals. Oakhill were stretched to extra time by South Manchester 2nd but ran out 5-2 winners in the end. Roy's Rovers won the other tie easily against FC K.D. 11-1.
In the league games, Leeds J-Uni slammed 5 past Haroldeans and in Div 1 it was mixed fortunes for the 2 Manchester Maccabi teams. The 5th team beat Crumpsall 4-2 in a close game whilst the youngsters in the 6th team got beat 13-2 by a stronger Westdene side.
28/01/2007 - Fixtures for Feb 4
New scheduled games for next week have been emailed to all club secretaries and the website has been updated. All previous lists for Feb 4 should be ignored. Its Shonn QF day and a Tony Cohen 1st round game has been brought forward a month.

I draw your attention to the following :
The competition is sanctioned by Manchester FA

The donation per team is £50 which must be received no later than 12.00 on 2 March. Each team playing in the MJSL has a mandatory requirement to enter as with other MJSL cups.
All players MUST have played at least 2 games for their club in MJSL competitions (inc Juniors) List of players must be submitted to Reg Secretary by 6pm on 18 March.
Only 16 teams can take part, so priority will be given to the 15 teams in the MJSL, if you wish to enter more than one team please advise me asap and a decision will be taken nearer the time.
My suggestion to avoid disappointment is to immediately start asking your players for availability on that day and look at feasibility of one team or possibly more.

to me prior to this date.

21/01/2007 - Headlines for Jan 21
All games were postponed except for Oakhill who entertained Mcr Maccabi 4th in a Shonn Group game.
Unfortunately with the fixture congestion, this game has been declared null and void and the competition has taken on a knockout format with the draw as follows and to be played next week :
SHONN TROPHY - ROUND 1

FC KD v Roy's Rovers - Pitch 3
South Mcr 2nd v Oakhill Lions
Byes:
Haroldeans, Leeds J-uni, Bowdon Boys, Westdene 3rd, Mcr Maccabi 4th.
The report from the game that was played but void...
Suprisingly it was the students who faultered in their first game since the turn of the year. 2 goals from Steve Lee, and one each from Jeremy Rubins and Daniel Feldman with just a consolation for Oakhill meant that it was a resounding 4-1 win.

Mcr Maccabi 4th v Broughton J/Wam

Weather wise - Fingers crossed for next Sunday

10/01/2007 - All stats are correct and updated now
Website back to normal now
09/01/2007 - Fixture brought forward from Apr 22
Mcr Maccabi 6th will play Mcr Maccabi 5th this Sunday 14 Jan as both teams lost in the Shonn Trophy last weekend. The game is being played at Brooklands.
09/01/2007 - Website technical problem with cup games update
Please bear with us whilst a bug is sorted out where cup games are concerned.

08/01/2007 - Shonn Trophy update
South Manchester Maccabi 3rd have withdrawn from the Fay and Henry Shonn Trophy.
Westdene 3rd will play against Roy’s Rovers on Sunday in the next round.
The 5-5 scoreline has been deleted from the records with no scorers.
This closes the matter.
07/01/2007 - Headlines for Jan 7
The Fay and Henry Shonn Trophy started today in its qualifying round although it wasnt without controversy. Roy's Rovers disposed of Mcr Maccabi 5th although the 3-0 scoreline suggests a closer game than expected. F.C. K.D. easily beat Mcr Maccabi 6th by 9-2, Saul Davies grabbed a hatrick in the process. North Manchester K.D. defeated bottom of the table Crumpsall 5-2 and again probably a closer game than anticipated.
The other game produced a strange ending as Westdene 3rd and Sth Manchester Maccabi 3rd drew 5-5 but ref Rob Zemmell had been advised by the Ref Secretary Staurt Delmonte that this part of the competition was run on a league basis therefore a draw was acceptable. This is not the case as these 4 games between Division One sides are purely knockout to produce 2 qualifiers.
I am seeking advice from Manchester FA and will have an answer by Tuesday morning. Both teams have been made aware. We are trying to ensure that next week's 2nd qualifying round game between Roy's Rovers and the winner of the outstanding game still takes place as planned. The 2 KD teams will play off in the other qualifier. All stats will be updated shortly - Apologies for the delay.
06/01/2007 - Fixture swap in Shonn Trophy on 21 Jan / 4 Feb
The following fixtures have been swapped around due to Broughton’s involvement
in the latter stages of the Morrison Trophy (an away game in London).
21.1.07 Shonn Group C
(Div 1 Match 2) Qualifier v Bowdon (originally on 4.2.07)
4.2.07 Shonn Group C
Bowdon v BWAM (originally on 21.1.07)
Any games in the Shonn involving the “qualifying teams from Div 1” cant be added
to the website until we know who those teams are. So whilst there may be a fixture
on your fixture list that was emailed over last week, it may not be visible yet on web.
02/01/2007 - Division One update - game cancellation
Two adjustments have been added to the table and due to a technical issue, this is a temporary fix. Crumpsall cancelled their game against Westdene in December with the game being awarded to Westdene.
Officially this should be registered as a win for Westdene and a defeat for Crumpsall with 3pts/0pts per team respectively.
As it stands, a draw has been registered in the table with relevant point adjustment smade so that the final points tally is correct.
Once the table can take on board a 0-0 scoreline as a win, the stats will be amended, but for now, the final points totals are correct for both clubs.
29/12/2006 - Jan to May update for 2006-07 season
This is a copy of the important email sent to all clubs today and should be used for future reference ... It includes directives in respect of fixture cancellations, pitches, new cup format for Shonn Trophy
Happy New Year to all associated with the MJSL !

29/12/2006 - Faye and Henry Shonn 2006-07 - New format and draw
This year we will see a new format – traditionally this competition is the Premier
Divisional Cup like the Tony Cohen is the Division 1 cup.
However, to increase the number of games, it will act like a type of FA Cup where
the Division One teams will progress through two qualifying rounds to produce two
qualifiers to join the Premier teams in the competition proper.
Then 3 small groups will produce 2 semi finals and a final accordingly.

17/12/2006 - Headlines for Dec 17
Only one game played today and that saw South Manchester Maccabi 3rd beat F.C.KD by 6-1.
All other matches were cancelled due to pitches being closed. However, Crumpsall cancelled their game last week and this match had already been awarded to Westdene 3rd. This means the score to be entered into the table will be 0-0 but a win recorded for Westdene with 3 points (this will be added in due course).
Fixtures for the New Year will be sent out before the end of 2006 and simultaneously appear on the website.
16/12/2006 - Frederick Road - Closed Sunday 17 Dec
Answer phone message confirms that all games on Salford Council pitches have been cancelled.
15/12/2006 - Appeals - (1) Bowdon Boys (2) Haroldeans v Leeds J-Uni
The Appeal decision made by the MJSL Executive in respect of Bowdon Boys playing an unregistered player was that the club would have 1 point deducted from their full total. The original decision had been a 3 point deduction. The table has been updated accordingly.
The Appeal decision in respect of the league game between Haroldeans and Leeds J-Uni was that this
game must be replayed due to a reduced time period not being agreed prior to the kick off by the referee in conjunction with both teams.
No score was entered into the stats so there is no adjustment made. Any goals scored by players in this game will not ne added to the league's goalscorer lists.
10/12/2006 - Headlines for Dec 10
In Division One, it was honours even as the top two drew 2-2, North Manchester K.D.sharing the points with Roy's Rovers. Mcr Maccabi 6th lost 5-0 to F.C. K.D. whilst the Westdene 3rd v Mcr Maccabi 5th game was postponed.
In the Premier Division, Oakhill won by the odd goal in 5 against Sth Mcr Maccabi 2nd whilst Bowdon lost 3-1 to bottom of the table Mcr Maccabi 4th. The game on Merseyside was cancelled due to the weather also with Haroldeans and Broughting getting a free Sunday.
10/12/2006 - Reminder for all clubs - MJSL Council meeting on Dec 14
All clubs need to be represented on Thursday eve from 8pm prompt as this will be the last Council meeting of the year.
03/12/2006 - Headlines for Dec 3
Reigning champions Oakhill followed the trend of all other teams by slipping up with Broughton gaining a creditable draw. This will give the likes of Bowdon and Haroldeans hope in the quest for thise season's title. Elsewhere Mcr Maccabi 4th look a pale shade of last year's promise as they went down 3-0 to an ever improving Haroldeans side who swept in 3 goals withour reply.
In Division 1, it was a goal fest in 2 of the games which featured this league's top two. North Manchester KD beat bottom of the table Crumpsall by 15-0 and Roy's Rovers saw off F.C.K.D. with a 9 goal rout. The other game saw a hotly disputed offside goal separate the teams. Sth Mcr Maccabi 3rd getting the all important strike which meant Westdene 3rd ended up with no points on the day.

26/11/2006 - Headlines for Nov 26
With Salford pitches unavailable 3 games were lost so attention turned to the Premier Division where once again teams took points offe ach other. Bowdon who recently beat Oakhill but had lost to to Broughton, this time were defeated by Haroldeans over on Merseyside, Bobby Abrams getting a hatrick. Also over in Yorkshire, reigning champions Oakhill travelled well and came back with all 3 points as they put Leeds J-Uni in their place if they had any visions of taking the title in May. Finally South 2nd and Broughton fought out a 2-2 draw and a share of the points.
In Div 1, the one game that survived was a cracker as North Manchester KD won by the odd goal in 7. Their final 2 goals turned the game in the dying minutes, Rafi Lekere continuing his scoring run this time netting all 4. Westdene who led throughout will be disappointed getting nothing out of the game.
25/11/2006 - Frederick Road - Closed Sunday 25 Nov
Answer phone message confirms that all games on Salford Council pitches have been cancelled.
21/11/2006 - Bowdon Boys played unregistered player
Bowdon played Daniel Lee in several league games which was highlighted by the Registration Secretary. League rules allow for the deduction of any points gained and various other options. It was decided that a 3 point deduction should be made. The table has been adjusted accordingly.
19/11/2006 - Headlines for Nov 19
The Premier Division title race was blown wide open as reigning champions lost for the first time this year, with Bowdon winning handsomely and deservedly 2-0. Leeds also dropped points as South Mcr 2nd once again proved a difficult nut to crack, and were actually leading 3-2 with minutes to go - before the yorkshiremen equalised and shared the points. 3 weeks ago, Broughton beat Haroldeans 4-1, however, the merseysiders reversed this with a 5-3 victory - Rick Paydon scoring a magnificent four.
In Div One, Mcr Maccabi 5th drew 2-2 with Sth Mcr 3rd and Max Gruber received his marching orders for 2 bookable offences. North Manchester KD showed their intent as they hit a dozen past Mcr Maccabi 6th with Dave Eden smashing a double hatrick. Roy Rovers stayed in pole position and recorded their 7th league win out of 7 games, this time smashing 7 past FC K.D.

14/11/2006 - Frederick Road - update
Salford Leisure have looked at options with David Lewis playing fields and changing room facilities.. There was a marked improvement from previous weeks as the pitches were cut better and the line markings were there and visible. The dressing rooms were back to their basic best, but at least there was light ! As far as im told, theer are plans to make it brighter in there and strengthen the boarding up also.
Its also feasible that the entrance may be moved centrally. All teams should be aware that the shower facilities are available with hot water on any match day. The groundsman merely has to be asked to turn the water on and unlock the aluminium / steel plated / bullet proof double doors to the left of the changing rooms ...
14/11/2006 - MJSL Council / Exec Meeting - Dec 14
This is giving a month's advance notice of the final Council meeting of the year. I will confirm details shortly as to time and location but all secretaries please plan into your diary as well as Exec members.
12/11/2006 - Headlines for Nov 12
In the Joan Collins Premier Division, Oakhill Lions showed their intent with a 2-0 win over Sth Mcr Maccabi 2nd, Gershuny again scored both goals. A very rare occurrence in amateur football saw a goalless draw between Mcr Maccabi 4th and Leeds J-Uni whilst Haroldeans went down to a 4 - 1 defeat by Bowdon Boys. The season looks like everybody is taking parts of each other whilst oakhill must remain favourites...
In the Mo Phillips Div 1, Mcr Maccabi 5th very nearly halted Roy's Rovers march to the title as their 100% record just about remained in tact. It was a 2-1 win with Levy and Berens getting the all important goals and Darren Cohen getting the consolation. Westdene 3rd easily won 5-1 against F.C. K.D. although the first half ended at just 2-1. The game was marred by an injury to the way team's keeper who had to be taken to hospital via ambulance with a possible break and as a result the game was held up for some time.
North Manchester KD swept aside the South Mcr Maccabi 3rd eleven with an 8-2 romp, Rafi Leker and David Eden both grabbing hatricks. Mcr Maccabi 6th grabbed their first win in senior football beating a beleaguered Crumpsall 6-1, Myers and Cooper both scored a brace, Eli Wieder provided Crumpsall's response.
12/11/2006 - Non-Uniform Kit - Fines to be imposed
There were 3 games at Frederick Road this weekend and in each game, there was at least one team without a full uniform kit which has been mentioned on numerous occasions previously as being unacceptable. We may not have the most skilful league in terms of players and teams in the area, but we try to run an efficient league and as part of this, basics such as kit are essential. No leniency has been shown this weekend as previous warnings have gone unheeded. Please ensure you team has a full uniform kit for future games this season. All offending teams will be contacted this evening by email.
12/11/2006 - Jewellery - FA RULE !!!!!!!!!!!
Once again a manager has advised a referee that an opposing player is putting all players at risk by wearing jewellery. It is worrying that the official was oblivious to this and was not prepared to listen.
The FA rule which has been read out at council meetings and emailed to all secretaries MUST be adhered to. All MJSL referees have now been instructed to refuse to allow any player to take the field who does not abide by these rules. (a wedding ring which is difficult to remove is considered acceptable if taped up BUT no other type of jewellery including piercings, studs, ear rings etc).
All Secretaries are now asked once again to ensure that this rule is followed to the letter of the law to avoid disappointment on match day.
12/11/2006 - Feldman Trophy - Game awarded
North Manchester KD have been removed from the Feldman trophy for fielding a player who had not been registered the required 14 days. As a result Manchester Maccabi 5th progess to the next round.
06/11/2006 - Haroldeans v Leeds J-Uni - Replay
The MJSL Executive have decided that yesterday's Premier Division match will be replayed as the referee failed to advise either side that he was playing only 40 minutes away. This can be done if both parties are in agreement PRIOR to the match. This was not the case and the result is null and void with the game to be rescheduled in due course (subject to appeal).
05/11/2006 - Headlines for Nov 5
In the MJSL Premier Division, Haroldeans scored a late winner to beat Leeds J-Uni by the odd goal in 7. Sth Mcr Maccabi 2nd easily beat Mcr Maccabi 4th by 5-1. In Division 1, Roy's Rovers couldnt quite make double figures as they rattled in 9 against bottom of the table Crumpsall, Mcr Maccabi 6th made their debut in the senior leagues but narrowly lost to Sth Mcr Maccabi 3rd by 2-0 whilst Mcr Maccabi 5th fell to a 5-2 defeat by North Manchester KD.
The National Trophy saw the following results; Manchester Maccabi 1st (reigning champions) easily beat Bowdon Boys 7-0 at St Pauls, Leeds Maccabi came to Frederick Rd and beat an under strength Oakhill side 6-0. Broughton scrambled through with a 2-1 win over Westdene in extra time, goalless at 90 minutes with Westdene unbelievably not going through.
05/11/2006 - Frederick Road - facilities
Following a growing number of complaints, the MJSL who were about to write to Salford Leisure (Council) anyway regarding the state of the changing rooms, sent an official letter of complaint on behalf of all clubs that play there. The pitches have been and some are still in an unacceptable condition in terms of the grass length. Markings have recently been done as they should be. The changing rooms are a disgrace and any health and safety officer would have a case study to be proud of !
The update is that the Council are taking a surveyor down there this week, several members of the Executive looked at various options today and will put these forward accordingly.
Please bear with us and watch this space......
02/11/2006 - MJSL Exec - Teams ... Please note
MJSL Exec would like to reinforce the following :
1. NO jewellery except wedding band / ring can be worn in a football match per the FA. Then it must be covered with a suitable tape. So no pierced items are allowed etc. All officials are advised accordingly.
2. Any match card discrepancies will be dealt with by imposing fines where signatures can not be read or completed wrongly. If they arrive late having been sent late or dont arrive at all, again a minimum fine will be imposed without exception.
3. We have wrote to the Council regarding the state of facilities at Frederick Road and we are awaiting an update next week as they are reviewing the situation.
29/10/2006 - Suspensions as advised by Mcr FA
Alex Bodek (Bowdon Boys) - Offence 17/9/06
Received 2nd caution in same match
Suspended 7 days from 30/10 - 5/11/06
29/10/2006 - Headlines for Oct 29
The Feldman Trophy saw a total of 47 goals kick off the competition in just 6 games. Westdene slammed a dozen past Crumpsall who had several players retire through injury and Abenson sent off. Bowdon hit ten against F.C. K.D.as Dave Copeland helped himself to 4 goals. South Mcr Maccabi 2nd as one would expect saw off their own 3rd team with a 7 - 2 win and North Manchester KD managed to get the better of Mcr Maccabi 5th by a scoreline of 4 - 2. In the remaining 2 games, Leeds J-Uni ran out 4 - 1 winners over Roy's Rovers in a bad tempered affair and Broughton continued to impress as they beat Haroldeans 4 - 1.
These 6 winners will join Mcr Maccabi 4th and Oakhill Lions in the Quarter Finals which will be drawn at the next Council Meeting in December. Goalscorers and any reports will be posted on website by 7pm this evening.
25/10/2006 - MJSL Executive Committee Meeting

The other student team from Leeds J-Uni held off the challenge from Sth Mcr Maccabi 2nd with a good but narrow 3 - 2 victory. Broughton who beat Bowdon 4 - 0 earlier this season, lost out by the odd goal in 5 also.
In the Mo Phillips Division One, it was a goal fest with 25 being slammed home in just 3 games, Mcr Maccabi 5th beat debutants Crumpsall 9 - 0 whilst Roy's Rovers also grabbed 9 against Sth Mcr 3rd who netted consolation. In the KD derby, North Manchester enjoyed a 5 - 1 win.

15/10/2006 - Website availability
The MJSL website is on course to go live in the public domain by no later Sunday 22nd October. All press contacts and recipients of weekly reviews will receive an email advising them that all they need to do is look on the website for all the normal information rather than wait for an email some time on a Sunday.
15/10/2006 - New fixtures
Brian is about to issue the new schedule of fixtures that will take us up till the December break. Teams should advise Brian if they have any needs for a free date in the new year as there will be a strict policy towards fixture cancellations moving forward from now on with the season well under way.
07/10/2006 - Mcr Maccabi 6th - new team
With the collapse of the Junior Under 16 league, a request from Manchester Maccabi was made to include their U-16s in the MJSL Senior Division 1. With the season in its early weeks and most teams having not played more than two games, it was felt that this was reasonable and their season will start in November. They will play at Frederick Road on an ad hoc basis dependent on other teams being away from there on the same day. It has been agreed that they cant take their place in the Feldman Trophy as the draw has already been made. The MJSL Executive wish them well ....
07/10/2006 - Website launch
The MJSL website isdue to go live in the public domain no later than Sunday October 22nd. Its provisional date is Thursday 19th. Many features will be updated in real time such as scorers, results, tables, match reports and news. Documents will be able to be downloaded such as Registration and transfer forms, rules will be readily available and always on view. Chatboard facilities are being discussed but this will definitely be restricted access after previous inappropriate use on other similar sites. This will see the MJSL move into the 21st century and
hopefully eventually provide an interesting forum for the footballing community at large.
25/09/2006 - Peter Morrison - Northern Zone Draw
The 2006-07 National trophy draw has been made and includes 5 MJSL sides namely Bowdon Boys,Broughton J/Wam,Leeds JNF J-Uni, Oakhill Lions and Westdene.
